Meet the NSTA team
Geri trained at one of the top drama schools in London 'Mountview Theatre School' she has extensive experience of all three disciplines of performing arts, acting, dancing and singing has held roles in productions in London's West End and acted in regional theatre. Geri has acted in TV dramas for ITV and BBC & commercials, but also performed as part of the show team on board P&O's luxury cruise liners. Geri has previously taught speech & drama at Bow Durham School, Sunderland High School, Argyle House and Emmanuel College. Geri is also a qualified LAMDA instructor with an enviable track record for success.
Sarah (Dance Instructor)
Sarah graduated from the University of Sunderland with a PGCE and BA HONS Dance Degree and is due to graduate with an MA Education from Durham University later this year. Having studied dance for over 20 years. Sarah is well versed in a variety of dance styles including contemporary, jazz, street dance, salsa, Latin American, cheerleading, physical theatre and musical theatre. Sarah has taught dance in various schools and colleges across the north east and is currently Programme Leader for Performing Arts at the University of Sunderland and a freelance choreographer. Sarah has brought a wealth of creativity, energy and enthusiasm to the NSTA team for 7 years now.
Elaine (Drama Instructor)
Elaine has a strong background in performance Arts from an early age, gaining performance Arts A-levels from Tyneside College. After having graduated from Sunderland University with a 2:1 in Performing Arts, which included Acting, Dance & Music, Elaine went on to complete her P.G.C.E teaching qualification at Northumbria University. Currently working weekdays as a special educational needs teacher, in which she is actively involved in leading a choir, Elaine is also a qualified LAMDA instructor. Elaine's professional acting credentials include work on Byker Grove, various adverts, Safety Videos and 'Metro the Musical' for the BBC.
Colin (Singing Instructor)
Commencing his education in Music at the age of 8, Colin progressed to gain a grade eight in singing and cornet from RSM (Royal School of Music) furthering his education through obtaining a BA HONS Degree in 'Performing Arts' at Sunderland University. Colin plays the piano and is a brass specialist. Currently Colin teaches at a local college to students with Disabilities or Learning Difficulties and has been Musical Director for a number of Amateur Operatic Societies over the past 10 years. Colin brings an exceptional set of skills and experience to Northern Star and has been a big part of the NSTA team for over 7 years.
